Amicus completed in excess of £50m in February – a record for the short-term lender.

Amicus has set a £400m lending target for the whole of 2016.

Keith Aldridge, its managing director, said: "It is very rewarding for us all at Amicus to exceed the £50m per month barrier and comforting for me as I predicated the target would be reached early in the New Year and be a regular feature of our 2016 performance.

"We remain confident that the sector has a great deal more to offer specialist brokers and we look forward to developing distribution in the coming months to ensure our growth ambitions are achieved.”

Benson Hersch, chief executives of Association of Short Term Lenders, said: "It is very encouraging that one of our supporting businesses is sustaining their growth ambitions.

“Keith and his team are active members of the Association and their determination to take the opportunities that our sector offers is shared by the ASTL membership and this has to be good news for any broker who has the appetite to diversify into specialist short-term lending."
