Aquilam Capital, which focuses on investing and lending into companies in the specialty finance sector, has launched.

Aquilam Capital expects to complete six to eight quality transactions each year, and will consider transactions of up to £25m, despite the typical range likely to be around two and £10m.

The firm will support management teams on all aspects of their business, from operations and risk through to strategic direction, funding and development.

The founders of Aquilam Capital, Marc Sefton and Kieran McSweeney (pictured), are well-known names in the structures finance market and have over 30 years’ combined experience.

Sefton said: “We recognised the need for an investment firm which can provide exciting, entrepreneurial businesses with the right type of funding, but one which will also be a business partner; providing hands-on help, challenge and support where it is of greatest value.”

McSweeney added: “We are combining exceptional deal transaction experience with corporate finance and operational expertise to create an offer which is unique in this market.”

The wider team also includes Jamie Constable who has acquired over 50 businesses, and Steve Curtis who has run nearly 20 companies as either chief executive or chairman.
