Butterfield Mortgages hires business development director

Butterfield Mortgages Limited (BML) has appointed David Gwyther (pictured)as a business development director.

Gwyther has more than 36 years’ experience in the banking sector, including roles at Barclays Bank, Butterfield Private Bank and EFG Private Bank. He has vast knowledge of the residential mortgage market and, in particular, the borrowing requirements of high net worth (HNW) individuals.

Part of the Butterfield Group, BML is a London-based lender with a focus on the needs of local and international HNWs.

Alpa Bhakta, chief executive of BML, said: “David has an immense amount of technical knowledge in the credit space, which enables him to formulate bespoke solutions for our HNW clients, he will also offer support and mentorship to the sales team.”

Gwyther started his career in the finance industry in 1982, with previous positions including head of credit risk and assistant credit director.

He said: “I’m delighted to be returning to the Butterfield Group to take on the new role of business development director.

“BML has already established itself as a key player in the HNW mortgage market and I’m looking forward to further enhancing the product offerings and helping to expand the business.”
