Gov't rules around moving house in Tier 4 confirmed

The government has confirmed that the UK property market will remain open in Tier 4 areas despite more strict rules being put into place.

On Saturday the Prime Minister announced that the new Tier 4 rules would come into effect as of midnight - London, the South East and the East of England were all hit with the new rules.

However, the government said that the housing market would still be able to continue operating despite the new restrictions. Conveyancers can open for business and can take on new instructions.

Surveyors and EPC assessors are free to visit properties to carry out surveys. Estate agents are allowed to remain open and removal firms are able to operate.

Those visiting homes should follow the latest government guidance for working in other people’s homes.

Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick confirmed the rules on Twitter.
