MIPIM property conference cancelled
The annual MIPIM property conference in Cannes has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
An estimated 26,000 investors, developers, land owners, property agents, lawyers were set to attend the event in the South of France between 7 and 10 June 2021.
The event has been postponed, and will now run for two days, between 7 and 8 September.
It is hoped the 2022 event return to normal, running from 15 to 18 March.
This cancellation is the fourth time MIPIM has been withdrawn in the space of a year.
According to the organisers of the event, France and the UK each account for around a quarter of all delegates.
In replacement of the summer conference, a digital event, the Leaders’ Perspectives Summit, will take place from 16 to 18 March, focusing on economic recovery in 2021.
This event is free and open to all, and introduces MIPIM’s new digital platform, which aims to provide support for real estate and city professionals throughout the year.
Ronan Vaspart, director of MIPIM, said: “The global pandemic has meant that we have had to adapt, with the safety of our clients, partners and staff always our top priority.
“It is not possible to hold MIPIM in Cannes during June as we had originally hoped to do.
“It is vital that the real estate community continues to have a global platform and we will continue to give it a voice through our digital events.
“We look forward to welcoming leaders from the property sector to the South of France in September for our special MIPIM September Edition, to fast-track our built environment’s recovery after restrictions have eased.
“In 2022, we will hold MIPIM in March, bringing together real estate leaders in Cannes at an event that will herald a return to near normal business.”
