Stephen Johnson set to depart Shawbrook

Stephen Johnson, deputy chief executive and managing director of Shawbrook Property Finance, is set to leave the bank later this year.

Johnson (pictured) has 15 years experience in building specialist lending businesses, across commercial and consumer lending markets in the UK. He is qualified as a chartered accountant.

Alongside his late father David Johnson he was part of the founding team at Shawbrook Bank and was also a founding member of the management team at Commercial First. Prior to this Johnson worked in the corporate finance advisory sector.

Steve Pateman, CEO of Shawbrook, said: "Stephen has been an integral part of Shawbrook since inception and has made a significant contribution during that time, helping to build a bank that now has assets of over £5bn; the recent change of ownership has created an opportunity for Stephen to take some time out with his family and we wish him all the very best for the future."

Johnson's departure sees Karen Bennett and Jeremy Law join the executive committee as managing director of commercial property finance and managing director of residential finance respectively.

Additionally Ian Cowie, managing director of business finance, will head up development finance.

Speaking of his departure Jonson said: “I appreciate the support that I have had from the board in making this difficult decision and I am sure Karen, Jeremy and Ian will continue to provide the perceptive and thoughtful underwriting and great customer service that have been the hallmarks of the business over the last few years and I wish them all well."

Johnson will officially leave the bank on 30 April.
